VXS DSP FMC carrier

February 2014 First Series Production

A series production of 25 VXS-DSP-FMC Carrier modules intended for the PSB Booster and for MedAustron was being received and tested.
Of these modules 5 had issues, the rest is operational.

A second batch of 10 additional modules was being received and tested.
One module out of 10 was inoperable.

We have released the official documentation for the mezzanine cooling fan designed to fit the SPEC board. The fan design is described on this page.

White Rabbit Switch - Software

This release fixes a few problems we found in the previous release:

- The SCB type used for PLL configuration now depends on the hwinfo partition and not on the DF type.
- Correct reboot procedure in the web interface.

Simple VME FMC Carrier SVEC

Release 3.0 of gateware available.

We are glad to announce the 3.0 release of the SVEC bootloader bitstream, which adds support for user application data storage in the onboard flash memory.

The future of synchronization - white elephant or white rabbit is the title of a presentation at the International Telecom Sync Forum - ITSF 2014.

This paper considers new requirements and new High Accuracy technology available for Telecoms synchronization. Also a look at distributed applications ready to utilize high accuracy sync. And considers why a technology of the past is still the bases of time standardization efforts for the future? What sort of transition and inter-operation scenarios are possible? Is the white rabbit too early or too late?

7-11-2014: VLBI workshop presents 4 x WR

The Third International VLBI Technology Workshop will feature four presentations (out of 55) and one poster that feature White Rabbit.

These workshops, which evolved from the highly successful 10-year series of International e-VLBI workshops, aim to encompass all areas of hardware or software development relevant to VLBI.

This release fixes a few problems we found in the release 4.1
- upgrading from v4.0 was not actually preserving the MAC address
- upgrading from v4.0 without a management USB connection was going
to stop without completing
- one of the “trivial” changes in our PTP daemon was wrong and
resulted in constant offsets in the synchronization
