12-06-2015: first beam with WR based timing system at GSI

GSI in Germany reported that for the first time there is a beam in the injector of CRYRING at GSI controlled by a White Rabbit based timing system.
The White Rabbit system controls the beam chopper of the CRYRING linac section YRLE “[1]":https://www-acc.gsi.de/wikis/Timing/TimingSystemGroupsAndMachines#CRYRING and triggers the data acquisition of beam instrumentation to detect the signal of the pulsed beam after the chopper “[2]":https://www-acc.gsi.de/wikis/pub/Timing/WebHome/YRT1DC2_2015-06-09_16-28-26.049.png.

VXS DSP FMC carrier

04-09-2012 VXS-DSP-FMC Carrier V2

A second version of the VXS-DSP-FMC Carrier was launched after a series of tests with the V1.

Main issues addressed by this new release are:

  1. DSP ICE JTAG connector pattern mirror image correction
  2. Change of FMC FPGA type from XC5VLX110T-1FFG1136C to XC5VSX95T-1FFG1136C to get 10x more DSP resources for FMC IP cores
  3. Add another XCF32PFS48C prom to support the new FPGA type
  4. Bug fixes in power connections
  5. Change power inductor L8 for one with a 5A rating.
  6. Bug fixes in JTAG chain
  7. Front panel now of type ELMA 26D604-6 (with easy insertion / extraction handles)
  8. Bug fix polarity reversal of GTP TX X0Y4_TX0 and X0Y6_TX0
  9. Bug fix I2C pull-up resistors of buses Main2F0 and Main2F2 must be powered from P2V5

VXS DSP FMC carrier

06-08-2013 VXS-DSP-FMC Carrier V3

A third version of the VXS-DSP-FMC Carrier was launched after a series of tests with the V2. The pre-series of V2 prototype boards already achieved full functionality but required minor hardware tweaks to be functional.
