We have received five rolls of 10 km and four rolls of 5 km single mode fibre with LC connectors on them. These can be used for the testing of long White Rabbit links.

14-04-2010: Package type of nanoFIP defined
The package type of the nanoFIP has been defined and will be a PQFP with 208 pins. This 28x28mm2 large package with a 0.5mm pitch between pins is easy to assemble and repair.

Twelve PCBs are ordered. Three will be mounted for prototyping. Components are ordered for ten.

The layout work started week 15.
The layout work started week 15. It was possible to place all the desired components on the front panel, it remains just to verify the tolerances. From a preliminary placement the board seems dense but the only 2 components that seems to cause some troubles are the 2 inverting DC/DC.

30-03-2010 - Survey of SMA, SMC and MMCX connectors finished
An extensive survey of different types of radio-frequency connectors that can be used on FMC mezzanines has been made and is available in the Files area. The major criterium was the height of the connector that is limited by the FMC standard to 9.
nanoFIP Test Board
26-03-2010: Schematics review held
The review revealed several issues that will make the design more robust and that will improve its documentation. The type of issues found are typical for designs of this complexity. The changes will be implemented before the PCB layout will start.
VME FMC Carrier VFC
24-03-2010 - PCB layout started
The schematics have been sent to the layout office. The PCB layout work will start in the first week of April and will be ready by the end of May, ready to be reviewed before production.

24-03-2010 PCB layout review held
A very useful review (Review24032010) has been held that introduced several improvements. Overall the layout was already fine and would have given a working board. Certain of the suggested changes will make the layout better, likely improving SNR and EMC features.
