Simple PCIe FMC carrier SPEC
First DMA transfer to/from DDR3
A first DMA transfer to the SPEC DDR3 and back to the host has been done
this morning.
The DDR3 interface seems to work well, but more exhaustive test of the
DDR3 interface are still to be done.

03-02-2011: PCB assembled and powered up
One prototype PCB has been assembled in our lab and immediately powered up. All power supplies are correct and the board’s I2C peripherals respond.

Two cards assembled
Two tester cards have been assembled and powered up. All I2C peripherals on board are responding. Python scripts are underway.

18-01-2011: PCB layout received for review.
The PCB layout has been received for review. It will be reviewed within a day and then quickly three prototypes will be built. In parallel the design will be reviewed by CERN’s design office and complete production files will be generated so that the design will be easier to be built by industry.

19-01-2011: 3 SPEC cards arrived at CERN
Three cards arrived at CERN. After delivery to our offices they will immediately be powered on.

Ten V2 boards have arrived and are ready for testing.

Basic Ethernet switching demonstrated
The WR v2 switch demonstrated real-life Ethernet packet switching in the last WR developer meeting by transferring a big video file between two laptops.

nic driver was born (long live nic driver)
The nic driver is currently sending and receiving packets
(I mean, the vhdl part does it, the driver not yet.
However, it’s not committed yet, as I’m working on it.
Simple PCIe FMC carrier SPEC
05-11-2010: PCB layout finished. Prototypes by mid December.
After several reviews the PCB layout of the Simple PCIe FMC carrier is finalised. CERN’s design office verified the design and created standard production files. Three prototype boards will be produced and assembled in Poland before being sent to CERN by mid December.
