We released the official 2014-02 version of spec-sw, with the latest fmc-bus as submodule ans support for the new wr-nic gateware binaries. The tools support pps output and 10MHz input for grandmaster operation.

Gennum GN4124 core

A new release of the Gennum PCIe interface chip to Wishbone core has been made. The most important change is that if one addresses a non-existant location, the core will reply with 0xFFFFFFFF instead of making your system freeze.

Rhino tutorials at the HPSPSA Workshop 2014
I’m happy to report that the Rhino platform tutorials went well at the HPSPSA workshop that took place at the end of January together with the ROACH tutorials that were offered by the SKA-SA team.

The White Rabbit PTP Core v2.1 release is out
This is the first official release with PPSI as the WR PTP engine. The release is indicated with wrpc-v2.1 git tag inside wr-cores and wrpc-sw repositories. With the release we provide: documentation on how to build and run the core, complete source code tarball and the binaries ready to be downloaded into the FPGA.

The company INCAA has written Labview drivers for the FMC DEL 1ns 4cha and FMC TDC 1ns 5cha mezzanine cards. These drivers work both for the PCIe-based SPEC carrier and PXIe-based SPEXI carrier board.

17-12-2013: WR link between CERN sites for test purposes
We have recently managed to get a fiber link deployed between the two CERN sites: Prevessin (France) and Meyrin (Switzerland). It goes from our lab to the CERN Control Center, then under the border to building near the CERN Globe of Science and Innovation and back the same way to our lab.
